This program is 36 hours in length in addition to an assessment (intake) and orientation. The assessment (intake) and orientation, group sessions and curriculum focus on ending violence, holding batterers accountable for their violence, abusive behaviors and keeping victims safe. The McLennan County CSCD BIPP currently holds Probationary Accreditation through the Texas Department of Criminal Justice –Community Justice Assistance Division (TDCJ-CJAD).
Length of BIPP services may vary depending on location. Currently our Austin office location offers the following Levels, with 2- hour sessions: Low/18 weeks; Moderate/24 weeks; Severe/36 weeks; Critical/52 weeks. Refer to the Program Enrollment Forms for additional BIPP information at each location. Participants attend a minimum of 24 one and one half hour sessions. Participants are assisted in taking full accountability for their battering behavior as the result of using irresponsible patterns in thinking and interacting which have caused harm to family members and others. Harmful thinking patterns and behaviors are challenged and responsible alternative ways of thinking and interacting are developed. The ultimate goal of the program is "Stop the Violence". This is an open ended group which meets weekly. This program is appropriate to only address specific offenses involving violence within a current or past intimate partner relationship (husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, ex-husband/ex-wife, etc). Focus is placed on taking accountability for the battering behavior with the goal of stopping future acts of violence. Considering certain circumstances, BIPP is delivered via individual sessions. This type of delivery has to be given special approval due to accreditation considerations.
