New Hope Counseling Center offers a Batterer's Intervention & Prevention Program to those in need in the Texas Hill Country and surrounding areas. New Hope's BIPP Program is an Accredited Program under the State of Texas's CJAD guidelines, #133-008.
Batterer's Intervention & Prevention Program (BIPP) teaches abusers that they do not have to batter and abuse. In many cases, battering is not the result of mental illness or due to the influence of drugs or alcohol. Rather it is a learned behavior that is often motivated by the unconscious or conscious desire of an individual to have control. Prevention is a process of self-evaluation, and consciously making the decision to break the cycle and change. Utilizing a group setting and honest accountability, BIPP programs look to address the causes and learned behaviors that lead to men resorting to domestic violence, in an effort to prevent future assaults from occurring.
